MTV Snowscoot features on channel 60 Sky TV, 15th setp. Snowscooter and Snowboarders jumping 40ft Kickers behind band stage.
the official launch of hopefully many Gatecrasher Days was held at the Snow park on the beautiful Pisa Ranges. We had about 12 Snowscooters from around the bottom half of the South Island with all the Gore and Balclutha crew representing.
The conditions were super nice. Everybody rode on all the small and large Kickers, Rails and Whoops. Loads of tricks were pulled by the boys and our only female Natasha carved up large showing how its done by the Girls.
Local riders from Wanaka and 2 riders from Auckland made up the rest of the riders. The park is superbly made for Big Air, Rails and Free Riding. The MTV Party hosted over 2000 people. With great performances by live bands. The MINT CHICKS and American rapper LUPE FIASCO. A 40ft Kicker had 20 Snow boarders and 2 Snowscoot riders hitting the jump. Kelly Gooch (Wanaka) and Nathen Horrell (Gore) got a massive crowd response for producing some huge air and landing most hits.
The after party was that night was blinding. Thanks for all that turned up and we will see you at the next one.
We would like to thank Web King Design for a fantastic job with the website, and helping to make this all possible for us.
The sun above Coronet Peak was quickly outshone by our lads on their Snowscoots; a field of 12 riders competed for the title of Champion of the Brown's Ski Shop Snowscoot Downhill race. Amongst the riders were our very own Graham Booth & Kelly Gooch who have been heckling each other over this race for the past 2 weeks. Kelly came in 1st with smooth technique on his first day back on the snow for the season, he was very closly followed by Darryn Horrell and Graham, on his 4th day ever riding Snowscoots cruised into 3rd! Andrew Muir came in 4th but on the day he was acknowleged as 2nd, 5 seconds of fame! Aiden lacked his Milo suit this year which proved to be a desicion that may have taken the edge off his chances of standing on the podium. The juniors were put in the same field as the ''old boys'' this year which gave them an immediate disadvantage but 16yr old Louis Dowling needs a mention as being a junior who is a fierce contender for next years' championship.
The absolute highlight on the day though belonged to Nathan Horrell who not only attempted but LANDED the first ever backflip on Snowscoots in the Southern Hemispere! Watch this space for the footage!!
Over 20 Snowscoots were riding the slopes on Saturday at Coronet, next year will be even bigger with 4 more junior riders signing up for the race and even a couple of chicks intend on giving the guys a run for their money!! It will be exciting to watch this sport evolve and we can see it eventually being given it's own spot on the Winter Festival calender!
Snowscoot NZ Ltd has been purchased by Graham & Bronnie Booth, with Kelly Gooch staying involved as a shareholder and passionate rider.
We are expanding our Rental Fleet this year to cover the South Island from Christchurch to Southland with the intention of growing Snowscoots to be a chosen winter sport for more people. If you are a moto-x, bmx rider; have knee problems preventing you from skiing, or simply aged 3 - 100 years old, this is the sport for you! Its renowned for being the easiest snow sport to learn with the diversity of being able to just cruise around the mountain or taking it to the next level of half pipes, rails, getting big air and more!
